MICROPHONE PREAMPLIFIER
The goal of this project was to design a low cost microphone preamplifier with performance comparable to a professional microphone for the purpose of Wind Turbine Health Monitoring. The steps used are as follows:
1. Derive transfer function
2. Conduct frequency response analysis
3. Simulate and use LTSpice to optimize corner frequencies
4. Build prototype
5. Test with 1kHz chirp signal
6. Compare with simulation and a professional mic.
In the end, an electret condenser microphone preamplifier design at 1% cost of a professional microphone with comparable performance within the frequency band of concern was achieved.
